Twitter: What’s the Point?

images

It’s been a rough month or so in these parts.  We had a great time at Disney, don’t get me wrong, but it was not without its obstacles.  It seems that every little bug in the greater Pee Dee (and even Orlando!) area has decided to visit the Reeder house.  There has literally been SOMEONE sick in our family since Christmas.  That’s gotten me a little down.

Ok. A lot down.

When I get down I tend to seclude myself and wallow.  Oh yeah, I am definitely a “wallower”.  I even have a friend that has called me on it.  During these “down” times, she will call and leave me messages saying “I know you are hiding out, but I just want you to know that I am here, and l love you”.  That means so much.

Today, it wasn’t phone calls.  It was, of all things, Twitter.

Just yesterday (in a moment of “Woe is me”, I am sure) I was thinking… what’s the point?  Why Twitter? Why Facebook? Does it really MEAN anything or is it just something else to clutter up my life? (I’ve felt that way about blogging, at times, too.)

This morning as I was checking FB, Email, Twitter, etc… I got my answer!

I was more than blessed by not one, not two, but THREE posts by friends.  They weren’t all aimed specifically at me… they were just thoughts that friends were sharing, but I know that God planted them as seeds of encouragement.

I can’t help it.  Even when I try to crawl under my covers and hide, I can’t.  I am a social butterfly.  People are my bread and butter… I thrive off of the energy of others.  Whether it be real life conversations, or “virtual” relationships… I thank God for my friends.  All of them!

So, in light of it all… even when I do feel a little overwhelmed by all of the voices coming at me with the “blinging” of my phone, I’m glad I have surrounded myself with such wonderful people… and that the Voice of Truth, echoes through them all!

What about you?  Do you Twitter? Facebook?  If so, “what’s the point” for you?

That's what I love about Twitter and Facebook...no matter now down I am, someone is there to lift me up. I try to do the same for others because it's such a great feeling.

From one wallflower to another, I totally get this. A lot can be bad about both, but mostly I feel encouraged. Have a great, great day!
