Thankful Thursday - Beautiful Savior

Yesterday, during my quiet time, I was reminded of a verse of scripture that I studied rather intensely last December.

I have recently taken on the habit of journaling (using the SOAP method)particular scriptures that I feel speak directly and specifically to me each day. (This is my way of "treasuring the wonder", "protecting my heart" and "digging the roots", for all of you who attended Beth Moore's simulcast last weekend.) ;-)

Instead of posting in my usual list format, I would like to share an excerpt from my journal with you today.

Scripture:

For to us a child is born,
to us a son is given,
and the government will be on his shoulders.
       And he will be called
       Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father
, Prince of Peace

Isaiah 9:6

Observation:  Everything I need, I have in Jesus.  He is not only the fulfillment of this prophesy, but of God's love for me.

Application:  I should turn to Christ FIRST AND FOREMOST to quiet my fears, guide my paths, and fight my battles. Only in Jesus can I find my true identity, ultimate acceptance, and rest my for my soul.

Prayer:  Dear Jesus, help me to see you as you are.  Help me to bring all my burdens, concerns and problems to your feet, and seek the guidance of my Wonderful Counselor.  Help me to seek the refuge and strength of my Mighty God, rather than trying to live life on my own.  Help me to seek the love and embrace the acceptance of my Everlasting Father, instead of the acceptance and approval of man. Help me to realize that the only way to free my life of chaos and hysteria is to completely submit to the authority of my Prince of PeaceThank you for being my Beautiful Savior!!

Beautiful Jesus
Beautiful Savior
Nothing is greater, brilliant Creator
Friend of mine
Perfect in power
Matchless in glory
Nothing is greater, brilliant Creator
Friend of mine

I see you went to the Simulcast too, or maybe you were there live. I too have to "Hide His Word" in my heart.. I have not for so long. I hope your new way of journaling helps you to understand God's Word better. Blessings...

Thank you for sharing the SOAP method. I had never heard of that before, but I really like it. Thank you for emphasizing a part of scripture that is sometimes taken forgranted.
